Operations Leaders may be considered to have two key areas of focus:-
- Delivering as expected
- Changing the delivery capability
Delivering as expected requires:-
- a very explicit plan of delivery with absolute clarity of what is expected to happen at a reasonably detailed level
- performance data that reports the delivery
- leading indicator performance data that reports how well we will deliver in-flight and future work
- evidence that the business is operating in the way it is expected it to operate
Changing the delivery capability requires:-
- an understanding of the demand on the business, both current and future
- current capability data
- a clear change plan, driven by outcomes
- performance data that evidences the change will be delivered and is delivering
